The story and roadmap behind TurtleSync
TurtleSync started as a simple question I could not stop thinking about: why is it so hard for a person on the beach to know who to call when they see a turtle in trouble? This page explains the thinking behind the project and where I plan to take it next.
From school research to long term work
I have been interested in sea turtles since I was a kid. As I started learning more about strandings, cold stun events, and nesting beaches, I noticed how scattered the information was. Every region seemed to have a different hotline, a different form, and a different way to report a stranded turtle.
At the same time, I was taking veterinary assistant and anatomy courses and volunteering in animal care. I saw how important clear intake information is for any rescue. TurtleSync combines that structured, veterinary way of thinking with my long term goal of working in marine animal care and turtle rehabilitation.
